由於影響因素眾多,打印機可說是色彩管理系統中最困難的部分。色彩由打印機表現的方式與其在數字相機或掃描儀上的表現方式截然不同。有許多種打印技術,如熱敏、靜電、噴墨等。打印機打印採取的是減色法,三原色分別為C、M、Y,不同的機器由墨粉和墨滴來表現,為了更好地表現深暗調和節約打印成本,一般還會用到黑墨。

紙張對打印的影響極大,因為墨粉染料等與紙張錶面會發生非常復雜的相互作用。對於顯示設備,要生成其 Profile文件可能需要測量幾十、上百個色塊,掃描儀和數字相機需要測量約200個色塊,而打印機則需要打印並測量好幾百甚至上千個色塊。

 

通過打印機取得設計圖像應註意的問題

打印機要準備與使用者在調節色彩上實現某種通信。其內部監測能力能監測至打印色彩的密度和光譜數據,在某種程度上“下載”紙張和油墨的特徵信息,供操作系統和高級的色彩管理軟件使用以控制打印機的輸出。要得到高質量的彩色圖像並不是設計師個人能全部掌控的,但需要設計師通過理解、測量、管理、經驗去達到最好的結果。
