The title page, also known as the title page and version record page. The title page is a traditional term used in the past, which refers to a page (single size surface) that is bound behind the cover or ring and contains the title of the book, the name of the author, and the name of the publishing unit. The double code side with version record content on the back of the title page is called the version record page.

The title page can be divided into a front title page and a middle title page. The front title page is arranged after the cover and the ring, also known as the inner lining, while the middle title page is arranged before a certain part of the book. According to the composition of a book, there may be several middle title pages.

The layout and cover of the front page generally include: book title, author name, publisher name and publication date, publication location, etc. The font size used for the title page is smaller than that of the cover page, mostly arranged in Song typeface (other fonts can also be used). The layout forms of the title page text are as follows

① Three centered sections. This is the most commonly used form, characterized by dividing the text into three parts: book title, author name, and publisher name, with each part of the text centered.

② Diagonal arrangement. The book title and author name are arranged in the upper right corner of the edition, while the publisher name and publication date are arranged in the lower left corner (or diagonally opposite).

③ Centralized in the upper corner. Concentrate all the text to be arranged on the title page in the upper right corner and decorate it appropriately in the lower corner.

④ Left aligned. All parts of the text are aligned from the left, and if necessary, decorative patterns can also be added on the other side.

⑤ Right aligned. All parts of the text should be aligned from the right, and decorative patterns can also be added on the other side if necessary.

⑥ Centralized upper part. All text is concentrated at the top of the board, and the bottom can also be decorated with appropriate patterns.

The form to be adopted depends on the overall style of the book or the format of the publishing house.

The content of the middle title page is relatively simple, usually only consisting of the title of the article or a general term for a group of articles.

Sometimes accompanied by decorative patterns or printed in different colors.

Version record page, also known as copyright page, can be placed on the cover, title page (back of the book title page), last page of the book, back cover or back cover. The content of the version record page generally includes: title, author, proofreader, responsible editor, cover designer, publisher, format, printed sheet, word count, print run, book number, pricing, publication date, edition, printer, etc. The font size used on the version record page should be smaller than the main text, such as the title being five characters smaller, while other parts can be six characters smaller.

The layout method of the title page and version record page mentioned above is the traditional layout of the past and is for reference only. In order to align with the international publishing industry, China's national standard GB/T12450-2001 "Book Title Pages" is equivalent to the international standard 01086-1991 "Book Title Pages". The book pages that contain complete title information before the main text of the book are officially named title leaves, which include the main title page and the supplementary title page. The title page is usually located before the main title page. According to the standard, the front of the main book title page (located on the single code side) should provide the book title, copyright owner, and publisher. The book title should include the main title, parallel title, subtitle, and instruction manual title. The text describing the title of the book should include necessary edition information, such as reprints, revisions, etc. The publisher's name should adopt the full name and indicate its location. The back of the main title page (located on the double code side) should provide the copyright description, in edition cataloging data, and version records of the book. The version record should be printed at the bottom of the back of the main book title page. The provided content includes records of printing and distribution, carrier form, etc. that are not included in the book's in edition cataloging data, and the publisher's name should be provided. Printing and distribution records, including the printer and publisher, should use their full names, the year and month of the first edition, this edition, and this printing, as well as the number of printed sheets, word count, number of prints, and pricing. The carrier form record should include the format and its size, as well as the type and quantity of attachments, such as "4 open maps and 2 sheets", "3 video tapes", etc. The publisher should provide the name of the main person in charge of the publishing house.

The title page can be one page (front or back) or multiple pages. The book in print cataloging data listed on the back of the main book title page should be placed in the middle of the page, preceded by the words' CIP data '. The extraction and formatting of its data should comply with the relevant provisions of GB/T12451-2001 "Catalogue Data for Books in Use". After the publication unit fills out the work order, the cataloging data of books in the Chinese version library will be provided by the cataloging department.
