目前市場上流行的掃描儀品種繁多,總體上可以分為三大類:家用、辦公商用和專業用。家用、辦公商用掃描儀統稱低端掃描儀,又稱普通掃描儀。對於專業掃描儀的選購主要考察以下參數:①掃描方式;②掃描精度;③色彩位數;④動態範圍;⑤介面方式;⑥掃描速度;⑦掃描驅動軟件等。

目前市場上流行的掃描儀品種繁多,總體上可以分為三大類:家用、辦公商用和專業用。家用、辦公商用掃描儀統稱低端掃描儀,又稱普通掃描儀。對於專業掃描儀的選購主要考察以下參數:①掃描方式;②掃描精度;③色彩位數;④動態範圍;⑤接口方式;⑥掃描速度;⑦掃描驅動軟件等。

雖說某些掃描儀色彩位數和光學解析度很高,而動態範圍(也叫密度範圍)很小,仍然不能作為專業掃描儀採購。

動態範圍不是取決於掃描儀某一光學部件的性能,而主要是由掃描儀整個光學影像系統的技術指標所決定的。只有高品質的透鏡、高精度的模擬/數字轉換器,以及高信噪比的線性CCD組合在一起,才能得到高的動態範圍。

動態範圍大的掃描儀所攝入的層次就多,所得到的圖像就包含有更多的細節;動態範圍小的掃描儀就無法檢測足夠寬的階調範圍,這時所得到的圖像要麽是壓縮了亮調,要麽是暗調部分並級等,不能正確反映原稿的層次和色彩。
