熱燙印從工藝上可分為先燙後印和先印後燙。先燙後印就是在空白的承印物上先燙印上電化鋁箔層,再在鋁箔層錶面印刷圖文多用於需大面積燙印的包裝印刷品。而先印後燙則是在已印好的印刷品上,在需要燙印的部位燙印上需要的圖案,這是目前被廣泛應用的一種工藝。

熱燙印從工藝上可分為先燙後印和先印後燙。先燙後印就是在空白的承印物上先燙印上電化鋁箔層,再在鋁箔層錶面印刷圖文多用於需大面積燙印的包裝印刷品。而先印後燙則是在已印好的印刷品上,在需要燙印的部位燙印上需要的圖案,這是目前被廣泛應用的一種工藝。

熱燙印的實質是利用熱量和壓力的作用,將鋁層轉印到承印物的錶面。該過程的原理是:在熱和壓力作用的期間,熱熔性的醇溶性染色樹脂層和膠黏劑受熱熔化,熱熔性的染色樹脂(一般為有機硅樹脂)熔化後黏結力減小,鋁層便從基膜上剝離,特種熱敏膠黏劑在熱和壓力的作用下,將鋁層黏結到印刷品上。

在壓印平板分離的0.5~1s的時間里,膠黏劑由熱熔狀態轉化為冷卻固化,電化鋁牢固地轉印到被燙物的錶面。目前用於熱燙印的設備主要有手動或自動平壓平燙印機、自動圓壓平卧式燙印機、圓壓圓式燙印機。
