Copperplate paper is a common term in China's printing industry, and its official name should be printing coated paper. Before the 1940s, the replication of classical oil paintings and other high-end painting artworks was mainly printed on this type of paper using the photographic screen color copperplate process (a type of relief printing), and the name copperplate paper has been used ever since. Quantitatively available are 100g/m2, 120g/m2, 150gm2, 180g/m2, 200ym2, and 250g/m2, with flat packaging specifications of 787mm × 1092m and 880mm × 1230m. Copperplate paper is processed by coating the base paper with a coating made from 100% bleached chemical wood pulp or partially bleached straw pulp. The coating mainly consists of white pigments such as barium sulfate, kaolin, and titanium dioxide, as well as adhesives such as casein and gelatin. Auxiliary materials such as beeswax and glycerin are also added, and coated on the base paper by a coating machine. The paper is then dried and super calendered. The coating of copperplate paper can be divided into single-sided and double-sided. Copperplate paper has a white and smooth surface, with high smoothness and whiteness, suitable for printing high-end printed products such as color brochures, exquisite pictures, advertising trademarks, and color illustrations.
