Shenzhen Buke Printing Company's Film Coating Process
Film coating, also known as laminating, is a processing technology that applies adhesive to plastic film, and after heating and applying pressure to paper printed products, they are bonded together to form a paper plastic integrated product. Printed products coated with film have an additional thin and transparent plastic film on the surface, which makes the surface smoother and brighter, thereby improving the glossiness and fastness of the printed products. The graphic and textual colors are more vivid, full of three-dimensional sense, and also play a role in waterproofing, stain resistance, wear resistance, folding resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, etc.
The principle and application of film coating
(1) The principle of film covering. Film lamination is a process in which the adhesive coating device evenly applies the adhesive solution to the surface of the plastic film before hot pressing and laminating. After drying by the drying device, the composite device performs hot pressing and laminating on the plastic film and printed matter to obtain a paper plastic composite product. The schematic diagram of the film lamination principle is shown in Figure 5-5, and the cross-section of the film lamination printed matter is shown in Figure 5-6.
The adhesion strength of laminated products depends on the bonding force between the film, printed material, and adhesive. This adhesive force requires the adhesive to be in close proximity to the atomic nucleus molecules of the film and printed material, achieving the integration of paper and plastic. The basic conditions for achieving a certain adhesive strength mainly include the wetting, movement, diffusion, and penetration of adhesive molecules on the surface of films and printed materials.
(2) Application of film covering. After being coated with film, the surface of printed materials becomes smoother and brighter, while also possessing functions such as wear resistance, moisture resistance, light resistance, waterproofing, folding resistance, and stain resistance. This not only protects printed materials but also extends their lifespan. If transparent and glossy printed materials are compounded on the surface of the printed materials, increasing the glossiness of the printed materials will make them dazzling; If the composite is a matte film, it gives people a sense of antiquity and elegance, so laminating can enhance the artistic quality of printed materials. Currently, laminating is widely used for book covers, packaging box surfaces, especially high-end packaging box surfaces, exquisite picture books, calendar printing claims, various instruction manuals, etc...
2. Film coating process
The laminating process can be divided into instant laminating process and pre laminating process according to the coating time of the adhesive and the different composite materials. The instant film coating process is divided into wet film coating and dry film coating
(1) Instant film coating process. The coating and laminating process of Shenzhen Buche Printing Company is a process of coating a roll of plastic film with adhesive, drying it, and laminating it with the printed product through a pressure composite part. Dry laminating is the process of coating a layer of adhesive on the plastic film, evaporating the solvent in a drying oven, and then bonding it with the paper printed product in a hot pressed state to form a laminated product. Wet laminating is a process of directly compounding adhesive without drying.
(2) Pre coated film technology. Pre coating film technology refers to the process of pre coating adhesive on plastic film, drying and rolling it, and selling it as a commodity. When film coating is required, it is hot pressed on a film coating equipment without an adhesive coating device to complete paper plastic composite. Pre coating film equipment has one less adhesive coating process than instant coating film, and other structures are similar. With the passage of time and advances in technology, the quality and environmental pollution of film covering, especially in the current film covering production process, have attracted the attention and attention of relevant government departments and knowledgeable people in the printing industry. This has led to a re evaluation of film covering technology, and different opinions and insights have been put forward.
