在藝術史上,沒有哪一種藝術能像今天的新媒體藝術一樣對“媒體”有著如此強的依賴性,對媒體的駕馭往往直接影響作品的成敗。這主要表現在兩個方面:第一,創作手段是“媒體”。從藝術媒介的演變可以得知,新媒體藝術是隨著影像媒體技術的發展而出現的,由創作到展示的整個過程都是建立在媒體支撐基礎上的。第二,“媒體”成為作品的一部分。在新媒體藝術中,“媒體”的選擇和使用不僅僅是一個中介,一種創作手段,它經常作為藝術作品的一部分而存在。


新媒體時代的到來使得動畫藝術的創作形式也結合了先進的科學技術,從數字畫板到數字合成,新媒體技術加強了動畫創作的便利性,並改變了視覺製作過程中的思維模式和工作流程。與傳統的動畫創作方式相比,結合了新媒體技術對“媒體”的利用,能夠得到更為精確地控制,並將各種動態分鏡、時長節奏、背景音樂和配音等細節都通過媒體處理得更為完善,提升動畫中後期的製作效率。同時,新媒體平臺的多種媒體技術結合應用,也推動了動畫創作方式的多樣化,促進了立體動畫、交互動畫等動畫形式的出現。
