The protective layer wrapped around the hardcover cover is called a protective cover. Its material is mostly adhesive paper with a weight of 120180g/m2, or it can be made into a cover with transparent plastic film, which is worn outside the hard book case for protection. The thickness of the paper used for the protective cover is related to the size of the book opening. For books with 32 or fewer openings, 120g/m2 paper is often used, while for books with 16 or more openings, 150-180g/m2 paper can be used. To enhance the toughness and wear resistance of the protective cover, a film coating treatment can be applied to the protective cover paper. The choice of protective paper is also related to the printing and protective screen. For protective covers that only print text and simple patterns, adhesive paper can be used. When printing fine images on protective covers, it is best to use copperplate paper because it has good printability but poor folding resistance.
