印刷公司印畫冊文件的PostScrip格式

PostScript格式簡稱PS格式,是 PostScript語言的標準格式,是由 PostScript語言所對應的 ASCII字元構成的多頁面描述文件,並以描述矢量圖形為特長,但也可以容納點陣圖像。

PS格式可以直接向打印設備輸出,其圖形描述部分以打印設備的指定解析度還原為光柵圖像點陣,如果還有像素圖像,其輸出解析度則由圖像的固有解析度決定,而圖像的網目調加網參數要通過應用軟件或輸出軟件設置。

本格式是 PostScript頁面描述語言的“原始”格式,其最大特點是:一個PS文件中可以包含整章整節的許多頁面。PS格式的整個文件從頭到尾按線性結構在頁面上堆放一系列圖形對象。因此在文件從頭至尾被完全處理之前,處理者無法確切知道文件的內容。特別是由於沒有限制在一個 PostScript頁面上處理對象的數量,因此很難在一個很長的 PostScript文件中確定頁的結束和另一頁的開始,因此也就無法預計處理某一個單獨頁面的時間。

不同的組版軟件生成的數據雖然不一定是P文件,但它們包含所有的符合PS所要求的信息。
