腰封設計並非只是一層簡單的書籍封面外包紙,設計者必須從書籍的實際內容出發考慮其結構、色彩、圖形、文字等,使其設計緊密結合書籍內容和主題內涵。

一方面,書籍腰封和書籍整體彼此呼應,共為書籍內容服務。

另一方面,腰封一旦脫離書籍整體無法進行實際使用,因此設計者在腰封設計時必須具備全局念及整體思想。
