因色相差別而形成的色彩對比,稱為色相對比。色相對比的強弱程度,決定於色相在色相環上的距離。任何一個色相都可自為主色,組成同種(15°以內)、類似(45°左右)、對比(130°左右)和互補(180°)色相的對比類似色相對比是較弱的色相對比。這種對比可稍微彌補同種色相對比的不足,又能保持統一、和諧、單純、雅緻、柔和等優點,是消費產品色彩設計中常採用的一種對比方法。

對比(互補)色相對比是較強的色相對比。這類色相對比不容易單調,但容易雜亂和過分刺激,傾向性不強,不容易具備鮮明的個性。在消費產品上,般只宜局部小面積的使用。其中最強的色相對比是互補色相對比。

其長處是,飽滿、活躍、刺激,短處是不安定、不協調、過分刺激,要把互補色相對比組織得傾向鮮明、統一和調和,配色的技術難度更高。在消費產品上,這種對比一般只宜用作局部的裝飾和點綴。
