1. Combined installation

Harmony binding is a relatively simple binding method that emerged after butterfly binding. Its feature is that the book case and cover can be separated, the book case can be replaced at any time, and the cover is hard and durable. Until now, some loose leaf documents are still packaged together, but more are used for various account books, cards, household registration books, etc.

2. Backpack packaging

Backpack packaging is developed on the basis of butterfly packaging. The difference from butterfly packaging is that the printed pages are folded upright, with the folded seam becoming the opening of the book, so that the side with text faces outward. Then, the folded edges of the pages are bumped and flattened, and the opposite side of the folded seam is twisted and fixed with paper. Then cut the remaining pages of the paper to form a book back. Then use a whole piece of paper slightly thicker than the page as the front and back cover, wrap it around the back of the book, and stick it to the back. Cut the top and bottom of the book evenly, and a bound book is considered finished. The characteristic of this binding method is that it includes a book back, hence it is called back binding.

3. Wire bound books

The thread binding method is basically the same as the back binding method, except that when binding, the book cover is not wrapped in a whole piece of paper, but cut into two pieces of paper or cloth that are the same size as the book pages, and then punched and threaded together with the book pages to bind into a book. This binding method is a traditional binding method in China, which is convenient for reading and not easy to break. Paired with various styles of letters, it appears particularly quaint and elegant, and even today some books still use this binding method. Paperback is one of the main binding forms for modern books and picture books. Usually, paper covers and film covers are used, mostly in the form of neat edges, but there are also some with narrow edges. There are various ways to process paperback book cores, such as wire binding, sewing binding, triple eyeliner binding, wireless glue binding, and plastic thread ironing binding. Flat binding technology is simple, easy to use, and inexpensive, making it the most commonly used binding form in China at present.

4. Fine Decoration

Hardcover refers to a delicate binding method of books. Generally, cardboard is used as the book cover, and after decoration and processing, it is made into a hard cover. The surface layer materials include cloth, paper, hemp, silk fabrics, lacquer cloth, artificial leather, etc. Plastic film is also used as the cover. The processing of hardcover book cores generally includes processes such as gluing, flattening, drying, rounding, ridges, applying gauze, sticking plug cloth, and silk swabs. Book cores can be processed into round and square backs. The hardcover book back is different from the paperback book, with hard back, cavity back, and soft back options. The advantage of hardcover is that it is finely processed, beautiful, generous, easy to read, and convenient for long-term preservation. However, due to the expensive materials used and the high processing costs during binding, the proportion of hardcover books in China is not significant

5. Horse riding and clothing booking

On a horse riding page stapler, the book cover and the book cover are folded together and then ridden on the staple rack. The wire is threaded through the spine crease of the book and then fastened with two wire nails, which is called horse riding binding.

6. Special equipment

Special decoration, also known as art decoration and luxury decoration, is a special processing and binding method in fine decoration. The processing of special edition books requires not only the proper shape of hardcover books, but also the spraying of colors or brushing of gold on the three incisions of the book core. Some also treat the back of the book shell into a bamboo knot shape and perform artistic processing such as inlaying on the cover to distinguish the grade of the book. This processed product is both durable and aesthetically pleasing, with high aesthetic value

7. Loose leaf bound book

The loose leaf binding method generally focuses on single pages, and the binding method is to make a row of small holes on the binding line of the paper page, and then thread them together with celluloid or metal spiral coils or claws to form a book.
