The Concept of Digital Watermarking Technology【Buke Printing】
Traditional watermark anti-counterfeiting technology generally refers to watermark paper used for anti-counterfeiting printed products such as banknotes and bills. It is a relatively familiar anti-counterfeiting technology for most people. Due to its good first-line anti-counterfeiting effect, it is widely used in many banknotes and certificates. Digital watermarking technology differs from traditional watermark paper; it utilizes related techniques of digital signal processing to embed trace data (generally numbers, serial numbers, text, image logos, and other copyright information) into media data works. After the watermark is embedded, the original media data does not change, nor does it affect the normal use of the original data. Digital watermarking is a watermark that cannot be perceived by people from the product's surface; only specialized detectors or software can detect the "hidden" watermark.
1. The Concept of Digital Watermarking Technology
With the continuous deepening of research on digital watermarking technology, there are different descriptions of its concept. Different descriptions also reflect the different focuses of digital watermarking technology research, but their basic content is consistent. Moreover, as digital watermarking technology continues to develop, the description of its concept will further enrich and evolve. Here, three descriptions of the concept of digital watermarking technology are briefly introduced.
(1) Digital watermarking technology embeds copyright information such as numbers, serial numbers, text, and image logos into multimedia information to serve purposes such as copyright protection, secret communication, authentication of data files, and product labeling.
(2) Digital watermarking technology embeds some identifying information directly into multimedia content through certain algorithms, without affecting the value and use of the original content, and cannot be perceived or noticed by the human perceptual system. It can only be extracted by specialized detectors or readers. The watermark information can be the author's serial number, company logo, text with special meaning, etc., and can be used to identify the source, version, original author, owner, publisher, and legitimate user's ownership of digital products such as files, images, or music works.
(3) Digital watermarking technology is a technique that uses digital technology to directly hide targets such as images, audio, video, text, and networks within still images, moving images, or other digital transmission media. Its essence is the hiding of image information, also known as image watermark processing technology.
